Network Member Criteria

Because our network is built on trust, experience and excellence in compassionate care, we only accept members who are properly qualified and certified in their fields.

All network members will be asked to sign a Network Member Agreement, laying out the terms and conditions of membership, including

  • a monthly or annual membership fee

  • Referral fees (see below)

  • Reporting back on services rendered and offering suggestions for next-steps / follow-up actions

For each type of network member, we gather at least three letters of recommendation, and require the following criteria:

Legal (Lawyers & Paralegals)

  • Law degree or paralegal license from a accredited institution

  • 5+ years of experience in family law and/or estate planning in Canada

  • Professional Liability insurance

Medical (Doctors & Nurse Practitioners)

  • A medical degree or master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution

  • Additional advanced or extended primary health care education in the field of elder and/or end-of-life care (hospice, palliative, MAID, etc.)

  • 5+ years of experience in elder and/or end-of-life care in Canada

  • Professional Liability insurance

Insurance (Brokers)

  • Insurance licence acquired through and/or recognised by the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC)

  • Ontario Insurance Broker Registration certificate and/or number

  • 5+ years of experience with life insurance and/or related categories of insurance

  • Professional Liability insurance

Social Work

  • A Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited program (accredited through the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE)

  • 5+ years of experience working with the elderly, chronically ill, family mediation and/or grief support

  • Professional Liability insurance

Mediation

  • Certification as a Qualified Mediator (Q. Med) or Chartered Mediator

  • Membership in good standing with ADR Institute of Canada

  • 5+ years of experience in family mediation or similar

  • Professional liability insurance

Chaplains

  • Certification (BCC or ACC) from the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or equivalent

  • At least 2 years of faith tradition leadership experience (i.e. supervised)

  • Professional liability insurance

  • Graduate level theological degree (MDiv) or equivalent from an institution accredited by the Association of Theological Schools or similar and/or ordination or mandate by a nationally registered faith tradition (preferred but not required)

Clergy

  • Graduate level theological degree (MDiv) or equivalent from an institution accredited by the Association of Theological Schools or similar and/or Ordination or mandate by a nationally registered faith tradition

  • At least 2 years of faith tradition leadership experience (i.e. supervised)

  • Professional liability insurance

  • Member of good standing in a faith-based clergy organisation (preferred but not required)

End of Life Doulas

  • Certification as an End-of-Life or Death Doula from the International End of Life Doula Association or equivalent

  • At least 1 year of experience working in the field of end-of-life care/support

  • Professional liability insurance

Grief Therapists / Counselors / Coaches

  • BA and/or preferably MA in counseling, social work, clinical psychology or a related area

  • Certification (Certified Grief Counselor (CGC), or through the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) or equivalent) and/or supervised experience in grief counseling / coaching

  • Professional liability insurance

Funeral Homes / Funeral Directors / Burial Societies

  • All relevant and required licencing through the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO)

  • Registered with the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals (OACFP)

  • Liability insurance
